Students take a blood sample ahead of the ‘Wingate’ test at our recent Loughborough University visit in April 2018.

From BTEC to BA Hons…we have teamed up with Loughborough College to offer students a unique Football & Higher Education programme.  The programme is designed for local students to undertake degree level courses in Scarborough whilst continuing their professional football development.

Students benefit from studying in Scarborough and with our link to Loughborough Sport, the University students will travel to Loughborough once a term in order to use the amazing facilities they have to offer, get hands on learning with equipment the top level sports industry uses as well as tap into the knowledge of University support staff and lecturers.

As well as the academic side University Scholars will also be part of the Football Academy and train 10 hours per week.  The students will also have full access to the Everyone Active Gym where weekly strength and conditioning training will take place.

Scholars had chance to use professional sport analysis equipment during the Loughborough College Open Day. They analysed a Spain v Iran U20 International game.

The course takes students through 3 different routes and 3 different levels.  Students have the choice to study:

  • Sports Coaching
  • Sports Science
  • Sports Business & Management

The below diagram illustrates what students can achieve.Uni Steps

The degree programme is accessible to anyone 18+ who has completed studies at college or for people interested in continuing their professional development in sport.  Current applicants include students aged 18-35.

The course was originally set up by Loughborough College to target elite athletes who wanted to still be involved once their playing careers had finished.  The ‘blended learning’ course allows students to study whilst they work or are involved in sport and allows the student to study at their own pace.
